What types of services do you provide in your lab?
This is where we test for water quality to make sure that the product that we’re feeding is getting out to the system and that it’s the proper amount. We run the sample from the distribution as well from the plant. The samples are taken and brought back to the lab.
What sort of things are you testing for?
We run a full range of conductivity, alkalinity, corrosion, and hardness tests and test for the amount of chloride sulfates, iron, manganese, zinc, fluoride, orthophosphate, and total phosphate in order to gauge the feed rate of chemicals into the system.
We keep records after testing and continually keep records on file to review test results with the client. On smaller systems, our results are the only ones used, but on bigger systems, we compare their results with our results in a split test to make sure we’re on the same page as far as results are concerned.
A lot of these lab tests that we run can have two or three different answers. For example, phosphate and phosphorus numbers are different and so we monitor based on what state you are in. This difference does matter so it’s important that we make sure we’re on the same page and talking the same language.
How do you give the client their results?
It is a consultation where during a visit we will sit down and discuss the results and the changes since the last visit. It is a sit-down meeting to follow up. They get a report which has test results copied from lab sheets that contains the complete history of their testing. This report shows trends as to what results they are getting in each of the metrics, such as conductivity, alkalinity, corrosion, or hardness and help determines the best results.
